The Prizes are awarding more than $1.3m USD to eight extraordinary writers, including the Pulitzer Prize winning critic Margo Jefferson, the enigmatic poet Wong May, the legendary British playwright Winsome Pinnock and the PEN International Award winner Tsitsi Dangaremba. These prestigious awards celebrate literary achievement, rewarding each recipient with $165,000 USD to support their writing and allow them to focus on their work independent of financial concerns. This year’s list showcases eight writers at very different stages of their careers – from legends of their craft to fresh new voices – all pushing boundaries with powerful works, exploring the notion of identity, family, nationhood, and key cultural touchpoints that shape how we view the world.
