Award winning production company Lipsink and United Agents are delighted to announce that after two critically acclaimed, sell out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Soho Theatre, Hear Me Raw will now take in twelve dates at London’s Arcola Theatre, from 12th to 24th February 2018. For tickets and more information, please visit: www.arcolatheatre.com It brings up some 13 million hits on Instagram. It’s three times larger than the worldwide pharmaceutical industry. Its leaders are Gwyneth Paltrow, Deliciously Ella and Belle Gibson. #Wellness is the millennial religion. And when January comes round, it means you simply must cleanse, detox, sweat… do everything you can to become part of the movement. What happens though if wellness starts making us sick? In an autobiographical story about #empowerment and crippling insecurity, #fitspiration and fragile bones, #superfoodsmoothies and so much debt, Daniella Isaacs peels back the Instagram filter to reveal the dirty truth behind clean living. Aged 24, Daniella joined the cult of contemporary wellness. She spiralised courgettes, saluted the sun, and came out top in spinning class. She even ghost-wrote for some of the world’s most well-known wellness brands. But it’s been two years since Daniella’s last period. Her bones are disintegrating, hairs are springing up in all the wrong places, and her anxiety is sky-rocketing. The doctors are saying her lifestyle is responsible. In a clean-living obsessed world, what does wellness even mean? Daniella said:- “I felt lost and overwhelmed, and with the help of social media, I found the wellness world, which offered easy answers. I followed endless recipes promising positivity, empowerment and insta-worthy abs. But clean living couldn’t cure my anxiety. If anything, it made it so much worse. From the front line of wellness, I can tell you that taut abs and glowy skin don’t bring you happiness and gluten-dairy-sugar-free bliss balls definitely don’t lead you down the path to enlightenment. I know I’m not alone in this wellness obsession, and I want this show to provide an antidote to the squeaky clean social media feeds which brush the complexities of human existence under yoga mats and crisp, white table cloths.” Hear Me Raw is a darkly comic, genre-bending new play about restriction, control and too much turmeric. The show also sheds light on ‘Orthorexia nervosa’, an eating disorder characterised by an unhealthy obsession with healthy eating. It is yet to be recognized by official medical bodies. It’s time to redefine what wellness really means. Hear Me Raw is from LIPSINK, the company behind irreverent intermarriage comedy Mush and Me, the winner of the 2014 IdeasTap Underbelly Award & the Holden Street Adelaide Fringe Award. LIPSINK is Rosy Banham and Daniella Isaacs’s creative partnership. www.lipsinktheatre.com Facebook + Twitter: @LipsinkTheatre Instagram: @DaniellaIsaacs www.lipsinktheatre.com Running Time: 60 minutes | Suitable for ages 12+ Milton Jones – star of Mock The Week (BBC Two), Live at the Apollo (BBC One) and Live at the Palladium (ITV) – is delighted to announce an extension to his existing UK tour, with an additional 48 dates added to cater to phenomenal demand. The tour began in Richmond on 22nd September 2017 and will now take in 109 dates in total, with tickets for the extra shows going on sale at 10am on www.ticketmaster.co.uk. Milton Jones is Out There is a manifesto of nonsense and the perfect antidote to the world's troubles. If this master of the one-liner was running for Prime Minister, would the world be a worse place? The answer is a unanimous yes, but don't let that put you off. Milton will be holding up the mirror of truth to society, and he can see right through it, which probably means it's just a window. He'll also be putting his foot down and lifting the lid on the media's pedal bin of lies (which doesn't include this press release of course). This is family-friendly, finely-crafted comedy at its best from one of the legends of the UK comedy scene. Milton Jones says: "I’m not stupid. This tour extension proves that I know Britain, and that its true king will continue to meet his subjects in cognito. Which I think is near Leicester." Milton is one of the UK's best-loved and biggest-selling stand-ups, with his last two tours each seeing him perform to more than 100,000 people. He made his comedy debut in 1996, scooping the prestigious Perrier Best Newcomer Award, and he has since become a mainstay of the UK comedy scene. He is a regular face on TV such as Mock The Week, Live at the Apollo, Live at the Palladium and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, as well as being about to record a twelfth radio series for Radio 4. You can see all dates here:- http://miltonjones.com/live-dates/ Tickets for the Spring 2018 extension to Milton Jones is Out There go on sale on at 10am. Visit www.ticketmaster.co.uk to purchase. |
