Imperial Jade is a rock band born in the Maresme province, in Barcelona in 2012 by five young friends and rock and roll lovers. The band is formed by Francesc López (Drums), Alex Pañero (guitar), Arnau Ventura (voice), Hugo Nubiola (guitar/keyboard), Ricard Turró (bass) and it is characterised by its sound that bring us back to the times where rock music ruled the world: the 70’s. In November 2015 the band released their first record “Please Welcome Imperial Jade” which was acclaimed for the specialized press, setting it on numerous top lists of best releases of the year.
Throughout 2016 Imperial Jade toured all through Spain presenting the album by giving numerous gigs booked by themselves, what brought them to open for the Californian band Rival Sons in Barcelona and the Swedish EUROPE in their two concerts given in Madrid and Barcelona among other great bands such as Ten Years After or Michael Monroe. In 2017 the band decides to bet hard on the recording of two new singles in analogue tape at Music Lan Studios, then mixed in Nashville, USA by sound engineer John Netti: (Rival Sons, Europe, Black Stone Cherry, Bon Jovi…) and mastered at The Room Studio by Gorka Dresbaj.
All through the year, Imperial Jade keeps playing gigs at different venues and appears for the first time live on TV at Los conciertos de Radio 3 of RTVE (Spanish TV channel), also playing in the main stage of Rock Fest BCN sharing stage with bands like Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Airbourne or Alice Cooper, heading numerous small festivals through Spain and playing in renowned festivals such as the Africo-American music festival Enclave de Agua being the first hard-rock proposal of the festival in its ten editions. Currently the band is setting up new material for their upcoming album, that is planned to be released at 2018, and starting up the last stage of their “Please Welcome Tour” on which they will go throughout the country once more.

South African singer-songwriter Kaien Cruz releases her brand new single, the alluring ‘Dangerous’, via Platoon.
Seamlessly fusing pop and nu-soul elements with an infectious electronic beat, ‘Dangerous’ radiates flickers of summer melodies, lyrically echoing the sentiment of ‘Maneater’ (both Hall & Oates, and Nelly Furtado versions).
“I wrote ‘Dangerous’ during a very frustrating time in my life. I’d just realised that a lot of people in this industry that I thought had my back, actually didn’t. So this song is about those people and and other things in my life that I thought were good for me, but were only holding me back. The chords I started with gave me a Michael Jackson kind of vibe which my dad absolutely loved! I built on this to give it more of a pop feeling.”
‘Dangerous’ is the first new music to come from the Durban-born artist, following the release of her 8-track debut EP ‘Mansion Mind’ last year.
Kaien Cruz has played guitar since she was 8 years old. By the time she had reached 16, having written and performed songs to her family, her sister suggested that she uploaded her music to Soundcloud. It was around this time that she began to put a voice to her creations.
The singer-songwriter’s big break came when she was discovered on Instagram by Durban-based producer Aewon Wolf of the Wolfpack. “Aewon gave me my introduction to the music industry and I have met a few people through him who have taught me a lot of things, good and bad. I’m a lot wiser since meeting Aewon and I definitely believe everything happens for a reason” she says.
At the tender age of 19, Kaien has already opened for Justin Bieber on the South African lef of the global megastar’s Purpose Tour; collaborated with Kyle Deutsch (of ‘Back to the Beach’ fame) and South Africa’s top rapping sensation Nasty C, and had her collaboration with producer Sketchy Bongy, ‘Love Me In The Dark’, nominated for the South African Music Award.
Kaien Cruz is currently working on a brand new EP out in LA.
19 year-old South Coast newcomer Megan Bird releases her infectious debut single 'Affirmation' today.
Having worked closely with GRAMMY and Ivor Novello award winning songwriter Eliot Kennedy (Spice Girls, Bryan Adams, Gary Barlow), Megan proves herself to be a surefire one to watch, possessing an infectious sound that shines through more so than ever in ‘Affirmation’, her first official musical offering.
Much like female figureheads Pink, Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato who Megan considers hugely influential in her musical journey, lyrically they share similar running themes of self-assurance and empowerment. Growing up on pop-rock royalty Paramore and All Time Low have also played an important role in moulding her sound over the years.
On both the making and meaning behind the debut single, Megan says of ‘Affirmation’ -
“This song was the very start of my debut album, the first song I wrote up in Sheffield with Eliot and Jim, and it made me excited about writing music again. I had just started college and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, I was doing a music course but wasn’t that interested and couldn’t find something that I could fully relate to. I was 16 when we first wrote it, and hearing the change in my voice and confidence over the past three years is crazy.“
On the meaning of the song -
“Within these last few years there’s been different situations in my life where I can really relate to the lyrics, and that’s something I always want to achieve with songwriting - that you can always relate in some way to what’s being said, and I love the timeline within the song itself. It’s based on a one sided relationship, which can also reflect on friendships. This has been a recurring theme for me and is the best way to let that frustration out, through music and especially lyrics.”
Bursting at the seams with energy and attitude, ‘Affirmation’ boasts the perfect blend of cinematic chords and anthemic drums, all brought together by Megan’s sharp melodies.
Alongside her full band, Megan presents the opportunity to experience the new music live with a headline homecoming show in Winchester on October 12th.

Groundbreaking Norwegian pop star Sigrid releases the highly-anticipated new single Sucker Punch, following her critically acclaimed RAW EP and incredible festival performances at Reading & Leeds and Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend. Highlighting the breadth of Sigrid’s maturing talent and aptitude for song writing, Sucker Punch cements the 22-year-old’s rise to pop prominence. Sigrid also drops an augmented reality lyric video using new technology, which has a ‘smartphone’ aesthetic mirroring the masses of social content that populates our life every day, with the augmented reality twist.
“Sucker Punch is one of my favourite songs so far and I’ve been so excited for release day! Emily Warren, Martin Sjølie and I made it when we were in Ocean Sound Recordings in my home town a while ago. The song is just a result of our usual way of working: talking, cooking, strolling, singing, dancing, experimenting...! Ugh it was so fun - just like the track itself.” Says Sigrid

Sucker Punch is out now on Island Records.
Swedish rising pop artist AmwinN has released her new single ‘DeLorean’, out now via Universal Music Sweden. She is outspoken on the track - lamenting on the men of today, wishing she could go back in time to visit her ideal men of the past.
Of the track, Amwin says:
“Making this song, we kind of just wanted to play around with how much I dislike the dudes in this day and age. I often go back in time and think ‘shit, if only I could get on Leonardo Dicaprio circa Romeo and Juliet or Kurt Cobain around when 'Nevermind' came out”. These Instagram models and YouTube dudes nowadays do absolutely nothing for me. Just makes me wish I had a time machine so I could head back and get what I really want.”

“Wish I had a machine to go back in time,
’Cos future boys are lames, can’t get nothing right
I’d take that b*tch way back, back to ’99
And f*ck Leo DiCaprio in his prime…
DeLorean” - Lyrics from ‘DeLorean’
Amwin - real name Amanda Winberg - has been making her mark on the international music scene recently, with her previous big single ‘Uber’ which earned her over 1 million online streams alone.
Critically too, Amwin has already attracted the attention of tastemaker press, with Clash commenting that she “inhabits a world daubed in vivid colour, with those fluro tones used to craft a deeply personal spell”, and PopDust noting that “her lyrics are an authentic portrayal of the (often unsaid) thoughts that bounce around our heads”. The Interns remarked that she is “another Swedish newcomer that you need to be paying attention to”.
Today Irish electro-folk duo Saint Sister release their debut album ‘Shape of Silence’. The album is inspired by the connections between people, and the conversations borne from figuring yourself out in relation to another person.
Of the album, Saint Sister say:-
“This record is the culmination of the past 4 years of making music together and navigating our 20s in Dublin. ‘Shape of Silence’ comes from an interest in the power and weight of silence - how heavy it can feel. It is a nod towards the use of space in our music; what can be said and felt in between the gaps.”
Saint Sister’s debut brilliantly presents their ability to create a unique blend of electronic, folk and pop. Exploration of the capabilities of the Irish harp - experimenting with effects and loops pedals and blending with subtle electronica - opened up the pathway to the sonic palette of this record. It opens with ‘The Beginning’; an elegant and ethereal track that celebrates the freedom and conspiratorial magic of a brand-new relationship (which we follow over the arc of the record). Next is ‘Twin Peaks’, a soundscape of luscious vocals and glistening Wurlizter, showcasing the bands skill in crafting relatable and honest lyrics. The start of the album feels more whimsical, optimistic and inquisitive but that atmosphere starts to change, and the songs begin to fracture becoming a little darker; more self-aware and lonelier while the relationship, which began with all the hope and promise of something new, becomes undone.
Tracks like ‘You Never Call’ and ‘Causing Trouble’ touch on themes of nostalgia and longing. The band embrace their Celtic roots with the stripped-back ‘Tir Eile’, meaning ‘Other Land’ in Irish, which powerfully displays their incredibly haunting vocals. ‘Steady’, one of their more electronically-influenced tracks sets extracts from author Kevin Breathnach’s ‘Tunnel Vision’ against a trip-hop infused breakbeat. The last track on the record, ‘The Mater’, offers a searing account of the pain and self-realisation that comes at the end of a relationship and the final act of self-isolation.
‘Shape of Silence’ was recorded with long term co-producer Alex Ryan of Hozier. Of the collaboration, the band says:
“We found a really good energy between the three of us, and over the course of the last three years have started trusting each other’s instincts a lot more and getting comfortable pushing the boundaries.”
‘Shape of Silence’ follows Saint Sister’s well-received debut EP ‘Madrid’, released in 2015. Title track ‘Madrid’ reached over 2 million streams and was playlisted through ‘Introducing’ on BBC Radio 1. The EP drew the attention of Lisa Hannigan who invited the band to open for her on the 20 date ‘At Swim’ European tour.
Saint Sister is Gemma Doherty and Morgan MacIntyre, hailing from the North of Ireland (Derry and Belfast respectively). The timing of their collaboration was key; having met in Dublin just after graduating from college, it became clear very early on that they were looking for the same thing. Bonding over their shared journey from north to south and a passion for music and words, teamed with the post-college confusion, they channelled all of their energy into the makings of a band.
To date, Saint Sister have amassed over 6 million streams combined.
Saint Sister are currently on tour around the US, Europe, Australia and UK. The band will be supporting Hozier on a number of his European tour dates included below:
Wednesday 21st November – Gasometer – Vienna, AT
Friday 23rd November – Verti Music Hall, Berlin, DE
Sunday 25th November – Sentrum Scene – Oslo, NO
Monday 26th November – Annexet – Stockholm, SE
