Sipho the Gift makes his return to music in full force today with the majestic new track ‘Hold Up’, released via Pontoon. 'Hold Up’ is the first new music to come from the South African rapper and MC in 2018, following the release of 2017’s acclaimed sophomore collection ‘Kintsugi’, and sets the tone for his upcoming third project ‘INDIGO’ - with more tracks and videos to follow. Sipho said:- “Hold Up is an exciting song about love. A resilient love that’s withstood, not only the test of time but, any obstacles thrown its way. I’m in love myself and this was a huge inspiration to me. I think not enough rappers talk about it for fear of appearing soft or wearing their hearts on their sleeves. The sound is fun, melodic and very rhythmic which is something I’m hoping to explore a lot more in the future as I play with more sounds”. Initially setting out to make music that sounded like the artists he loved, Sipho quickly learnt that he wanted to tell his own story. On his first EP, Sterkspruit-born MC sought to distance himself from the pack. His skill-set betrayed his age; at 21 years young, eyes fixed upon an uncertain future, he released the self-produced Coming of Age EP (2015). "I wanted to give a glimpse into the mind of a 20 year-old turning 21, measuring himself against the world and learning what it is to be a man while making your own destiny,” he says of it. Coming of Age showcased Sipho’s ability to employ words, rhythm and melody to “tell people about themselves, while using myself as a mirror.” Following the release of this debut, Sipho suffered a period of depression - frustrated by the perceived lack of success for his music, and fueled by the loss of his laptop and two hard-drives worth of music. It was two years until he would return with a palpable determination and the follow-up release ‘Kintsugi’ - the Japanese word a source of strength and sharpened focus. As well as producing his own music, Sipho has also achieved production credits on music by the likes of Well$, Deniro Ferrar, and King Mez, who featured prominently on Dr. Dre’s Compton album. 'Hold Up’ is the result of Platoon’s incredible ‘Lab’ event in South Africa, bringing together rising artists and incredible talents from across the country to celebrate and create. https://www.facebook.com/thexgift/ https://twitter.com/itsmesipho https://www.instagram.com/siphothegift/ Jay-Z and Beyoncé are joining forces for the newly announced OTR II stadium tour. SOUNDCLOUD / INSTAGRAM / TWITTER Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci announces debut album, "Ray Ray From Summer Hill" and reveals artwork24/2/2018 After months of anticipation, platinum-certified and critically-acclaimed Atlanta rapper and singer YFN Lucci announces March 9, 2018 as the release date of his anxiously awaited full-length debut, Ray Ray From Summer Hill [Think It’s A Game Records/Warner Bros. Records]. The announcement includes a reveal of Ray Ray From Summer Hill’s striking cover art, featuring YFN Lucci. YFN Lucci introduced the forthcoming record with the red-hot single “Boss Life” [feat. Offset]. Earlier this month, Lucci brought the house down at the BET Social Awards with a high-energy and hard-hitting performance of the song. Online, it’s quickly nearing the 5-million mark on Spotify and 4 million views on YouTube. Additionally, the album boasts the brand new banger “Street Kings” [feat. Meek Mill]. However, these two anthems offer just a glimpse of what to expect from his very first offering. It’s time to meet Ray Ray From Summer Hill. February has been a banner month for YFN Lucci. He celebrated his 27th birthday by throwing an Instagram-worthy circus-themed “Trap Du Soleil” party, which TMZ called, “circus meets hood.” He also dropped the new Freda’s Son EP fueled by the standout posse cut “Propane” [feat. YFN Trae Pound & YFN Kay]. Celebrating the release of the album, YFN Lucci heads down to SXSW to perform at the Pandora showcase on March 14. If you’re in Austin, don’t miss it. Singing and rapping with the same fiery force, YFN Lucci represents the next evolution of the Atlanta sound. Inking a deal with Think It’s A Game Records in 2014, he quietly developed into one of his city’s most powerful voices. Following the success of Wish Me Well, he unleashed Wish Me Well 2 in 2016. It yielded the platinum-certified smash “Key to the Streets” [feat. Migos & Trouble], which amassed over 43.2 million Spotify streams, turned up a high-profile remix with Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, and Quavo, and landed on XXL’s “50 Best Hip-Hop Songs of 2016” and Vibe’s “The 60 Best songs of 2016” list. Forbes proclaimed YFN Lucci among “5 Breakout Hip-Hop Artists to Watch This Summer” and Billboard dubbed him one of the “Top 10 Hip-Hop & R&B Artists to Watch in 2017”—he’s lived up to those claims with his EP Long Live Nut, and now Ray Ray From Summer Hill, (Think It’s A Game Records/Warner Bros. Records). www.yfnlucci.com www.instagram.com/yfnlucci www.twitter.com/yfnlucci www.facebook.com/yfnlucci Grammy Award nominated recording artist and songwriter Remy Ma has found a new home with Columbia Records (RCA in the UK).
