Danish electro goth / indie rockers Nelson Can announce solo desire: remixed together collaboration project
Danish electro / goth indie rock trio Nelson Can have announced the Solo Desire: Remix Together collaboration project—an initiative to use their own audience and streaming channels to provide an opportunity for artists and musicians to further support themselves financially at this difficult time.
After disbanding earlier this year, the three-piece are providing open-source access to the stems from their final album So Long Desire, and encouraging fellow artists and producers to submit their own remixes of tracks from the record.
All submissions will then be released on a 50/50 royalty split with contributors, who the trio hope will benefit from the band’s existing profile and audience.
The deadline for submissions is midnight on 21st May 2020.
Commenting on the idea, the band say:-
“Times like these call for creative thinking. We disbanded in January so we don’t really need the publicity, but a lot of artists do. We want to offer the chance to other artists to use our platform; our name, our music and our access to fans and followers, to generate revenue for themselves. Really, it’s a no-brainer. We have something that could be valuable to others, and we are currently not using it, so why on earth shouldn’t we just allow others to use it?
It’s important to us to make clear that this is not charity; it’s about sharing and collaboration. The artists who join the project will receive credit and royalties for their work and can hopefully use it to add to the progression of their own career.”
So Long Desire was released earlier this year on Alcopop! Records and was Nelson Can's first album in six years. Their maturation as both musicians and songwriters over the course of their career can be heard strikingly in the evolution of this, their final record together.
Since parting ways, the members of Nelson Can are all embarking on new musical projects. Front woman Selina Gin has taken up the mantle as producer and lyricist in her solo project ‘SELINA GIN’, where she creates beautiful soundscapes to envelope her sometimes delicate, sometimes earth-shattering, voice in chameleonic fashion. She had her debut live performance as a solo artist supporting The National last November.
Bassist Signe SigneSigne and drummer Maria Juntunen are both also working on new projects, with details TBA.
Solo Desire: Remixed Together will be released 19th June 2020
Black Satellite is celebrating this Friday the 13th with the premiere of the aggressive and hard-hitting music video for "I Don't Wanna Be Me." Premiering exclusively with Loudwire today, this song was recorded as a tribute to Type O Negative and lead singer Peter Steele leading up to the anniversary of his death tomorrow. On the track, singer Larissa Vale shares "We were inspired by the song conceptually, and wanted to take creative liberty in really making it our own. People may say prematurely that 'it doesn't sound like the original,' but it really sounds like us as a band, and that, we are truly proud of. The emotional context of the song remains intact and we hope that fans will enjoy this version as much as we did making it."
The video features drumming sensation Casey Cooper, and is the second part of this project, alongside the previously released video for "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend" On the project, Black Satellite shared "We wanted to release these songs as a tribute to the legacy that Pete left behind. These are big shoes to fill, literally, and we saw it not only as a challenge, but a way for us to experiment and grow artistically. There is definitely something to be said in his music, and covering the songs was our way to recognize that and tip our hats to him." Both tracks will be available across all DSPs tomorrow, April 14th.
Called a "rock band beyond definition" by idobi Radio, Black Satellite have been crafting mind-blowing alt-rock for over six years. Comprised of Larissa Vale (vocals) and Kyle Hawken (guitar), the duo came together in their hometown of State College, Pennsylvania and quickly formed a loyal bond that created the foundation for Black Satellite.
Black Satellite was named one of Alternative Press' "12 Bands You Need to Know" sharing that "Frontwoman Larissa Vale offers an aggressively elegant vocal range that pairs perfectly over Kyle Hawken's melodic guitar riffs and instrumental work. Each song from Endless effortlessly shows off the duo's provocative sound and captivating alt-rock essence." Additional support from the band from outlets like Billboard, Loudwire, New Noise Magazine, Alternative Press and more have continued to validate and solidify Black Satellite's place in the rock world.
Mastered by Ted Jensen (Muse, Marilyn Manson, Deftones), the band's debut album Endless paints an almost cinematic landscape, with each track revealing a new facet of the duo's style and complexity. Pairing influences ranging from Alice in Chains to Gojira with personal, emotional experiences and stories, Black Satellite have crafted a unified body of work that showcases their undeniable range. Vale remarked that with Endless, "We not only confronted our fears head-on, but were completely immersed in them."
Australia's The Creptter Children premiere 'Asleep With Your Devil' in full; out now on Imminence Records
Australian gothic / industrial hard rock outfit The Creptter Children has premiered their label debut in full. Asleep With Your Devil EP features five tracks, with one being a new version of their 2016 single "Watching You," and is out today on Imminence Records.
"Asleep With Your Devil to me is just the beginning of oeuvre and artistic expression that will follow. This new EP offers fans a tantalising sample of the direction The Creptter Children’s musical journey will take them too in the future. After spending many long nights working very hard in the studio on this EP, I was quite pleased to hear the end result. As an artist I can be my own worse critic and will always pick out my flaws. However, I can say I was rather content with the final product and look forward to the next endeavour. My mind never sleeps and I ‘am putting together new song ideas as we speak.” - Iballa Chantelle (Vocalist)
The Creptter Children are a gothic / industrial hard rock band currently based in Melbourne, Australia. They originated from Perth in 2006 by founding members Iballa Chantelle (vocals / guitars) and N8oR (guitars / synth). They released their debut album, entitled Possessed, back in 2010 before touring in the US during 2011. Shortly thereafter they took a hiatus before reappearing in 2016 and quickly catching the attention of American label Imminence Records. They announced their signing with the release of their “Watching You” music video on Halloween of that year.
Renowned for their catchy hooks and dark fashion sense, which stem from the dark and twisted mind of Iballa Chantelle, the band brings to their fans (also known as “Freaks”) her message of creativity, open mindedness, and positive reflection towards spirituality and the supernatural. With influences from Behemoth, Marilyn Manson, and Rob Zombie while being endorsed by Ibanez Guitars and Vampress Fashion, The Creptter Children are ready to take 2018 by storm with a new EP and a label backing them.
