Rolling Stone India post article about the upcoming Death By Fungi EP:
DEATH BY FUNGI was formed in 2013 by Vrishank Menon and Kamran Raza, quickly releasing their first demo later that year. The addition of Aryaman Chatterjee to the line-up, saw the band shift towards a more aggressive hardcore sound, resulting in another EP in 2015. This was followed by several live shows and another EP, titled In Dearth Of, in 2016. This release as well as 2017's split with Indian sludge band Shepherd, cemented the sound and style DBF are known for in their country — a chaotic, frantic and outspoken style of hardcore that is technical in its delivery while also referencing more melodic acts. Taking inspiration from a wide spectrum of sonic sources, ranging from the likes of Converge and Shai Hulud to Propagandhi, DBF forge a contemporary hardcore/punk sound with intelligent songwriting and infectious guitar-work.
Now considered one of the pioneers of Bombay Hardcore, Death By Fungi return to the fray with their first release in 2 years. While the band’s previous records saw them evolve from a melodic hardcore origin to incorporate influences from skatepunk, powerviolence and mathcore, “Die In Bombay” sets out to combine all influences into one melodic, abrasive and disorienting frenzy of relentless d-beat driven anarchy. As one of the most important bands in India right now, DBF continues to forge the shape & future of hardcore in South Asia, while staying true to its origins at the same time. While musically they lie somewhere between Botch, Coalesce, Deadguy and Despise You, the lyrical content is purely about life in Bombay - a huge metropolis that's engulfed by class and religious divide, polluted by an atmosphere of violence. Die in Bombay is the first record to feature Tabish Khidir of Mumbai-based doom metal band DIRGE on vocals.
In order for their sonic vision to be achieved to fruition, Death By Fungi's latest release was mastered by Derek Leisy at Audiosiege. It is a crucial point in defining a unique sound and aesthetic for the band after years of honing their craft. As a result, DBF stands as one of the more refreshing bands in hardcore today, both in terms of the music and in terms of the narrative they present, with the band being vocal about many issues related to social justice and human rights.
Their debut EP launches digitally on the 5th of August, and the band is set to tour across India in support of their latest release, alongside the rest of the Indian hardcore punk family.
Besvärjelsen (Swedish for “conjuring”) are not your everyday stoner rock band. The Swedish quintet conveys a unique sense of mystique and harrowing beauty through their crushing and alluring brand of rock, carried by Lea Amling Alazam's spellbinding vocals. "These heavy hitting Swedes deliver beautifully produced doom rock with lush soundscapes and terrifying vibes." describes Two Guys Metal Reviews.

Drummer Erik Bäckwall says about the video:-
"The song is about searching for good when it feels hopeless, The difficulty in finding good people and not just surrounding yourself with stuff that drags you down. It doesn’t really tie in with the video though. The video came out of an idea to make a simple video where all band members where present, since only two appeared in the previous videos from the last album."
On "Frost", the follow up to their 2018 debut "Vallmo", the feel of being isolated in a cold wilderness in the grip of higher forces is palpable all throughout the five tracks, with outstanding songwriting from guitarist/vocalists Andreas Baier and Staffan Stensland Vinrot and the forceful rhythm section of Johan Rockner and Erik Bäckwall (both formerly of Dozer). "Frost" was recorded in the dead of winter, in a cabin in the woods of Dalarna county in Sweden. It was mastered my Karl Daniel Lidén. It will be available on August 9th through Blues Funeral Recordings.
Besvärjelsen was formed in 2014. Though clearly rooted in the realms of doom, within their engulfing sound lies traces of progressive metal, punk, folk, and classic rock all carefully weaved together resulting in a sound that is at once crushingly heavy and alluringly sophisticated. They released their debut EP "Villfarelser" in 2015, quickly followed by the "Exil" EP (2016) which also celebrates the addition of drummer Erik Bäckwall (former Dozer, Greenleaf) to the lineup. In 2018, the quintet release their first full-length "Vallmo" (Swedish for “poppy”), offering seamlessly wandering from crushing doom riffs to catchy vocals and melodies, deep lyrical content and storming drum work, all topped by stunning guitar solos and, for the first time since the band’s formation, songs in English as well as their native Swedish. A couple of months before the release, the band welcomed bass player Johan Rockner (former Dozer, Greenleaf) to the fold.
Besvärjelsen return in 2019 with their new "Frost" EP, an almost full length format that raises the band's standards even higher. It will be available on August 9th worldwide through Blues Funeral Recordings after being first included as part of the exclusive PostWax series. PostWax is a groundbreaking subscription-style series of exclusive records for diehard fans of stoner, doom, heavy, psych rock, launched by Blues Funeral Recordings. The "Year One" series will also feature releases from Elder, Lowrider, Domkraft, Big Scenic Nowhere on limited edition vinyl with jaw-dropping artwork and next-level design. More info here.

Alexandra Savior today returns with a new video for single Crying All The Time. Her upcoming album Archer is set to be released on Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Records. Her first new music since 2017’s Belladonna of Sadness. The new single is produced by Sam Cohen (Kevin Morby).
When talking about the track Savior (full name, Alexandra Savior McDermott), who hails from Portland, Oregon, says:-
"I wrote "Crying All The Time" on New Year’s Day 2018, I had moved back home to Portland after a rough relationship. After being dropped from my previous record label I started attending community college and about two weeks in 30th Century reached out and offered for me to go to NYC and have a new record produced by Sam Cohen. We spent about 3 weeks recording in his studio in Dumbo, Brooklyn, it felt very natural to work with Sam because he is an incredibly kind man, and incredibly talented musician and producer."
The Oregon native first gained industry attention in 2012 when she posted a cover of Angus Stone’s “Big Jet Plane” on YouTube. The playful, haunting performance landed her a legion of influential fans—she ended up songwriting with Linda Perry, who compared her to Fiona Apple—and put her on the road toward releasing her debut album, 2017’s Belladonna of Sadness, which was written in tandem with the Arctic Monkey’s Alex Turner and produced by Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford. Pitchfork praised the album, saying, “Savior has a penchant for clever wordplay and a voice that can hypnotize, terrorize, or both,” and The Guardian swooned for Savior’s “preternatural self-possession” and “crystalline, intimate voice.”
Fast rising pop prodigy Jamie Hannah has been busy working with Boy George on several songs and today releases his new single ‘House of Truth’. The duet with George received a premiere by PEOPLE magazine yesterday, who hailed it a “summer smash”.
‘House of Truth’ is a truly unique and infectious song; beginning with a soulful refrain and driving beat. Jamie and George take turns with the early verses which in turn build to a gospel infused crescendo. The full breadth and range of Jamie’s 4-octave spanning vocals are showcased as the duo are joined by a joyous gospel choir. “I am very lucky to have Boy George as a mentor. The whole process of making and recording the song and video with such an icon has been very surreal” says Hannah. Equal adoration beams from Boy George as he exclaims “Jamie is a Natural!”
Jamie Hannah is a 22 year old British singer-songwriter with an extraordinary voice. His incredible vocal capabilities were honed at the Royal College of Music, where he trained in opera. Fusing this training with a variety of genres results in pop music with true passion, unlike anything else you’re likely to hear right now. His huge range and soaring falsetto makes ‘House of Truth’ one of the most affirming hits of the summer.
‘House of Truth’ follows this year’s earlier release ‘Sound of My Youth’, which was produced by notorious producer Benny D (Stormzy, Kylie Minogue). Since its release, Jamie has been gathering support from media the world over, as well as from some big celebrity stars including Oscar winner Dame Emma Thomson and Entertainment Presenter India Willoughby. Whilst supporting the track, Jamie has also been performing live throughout the country, most recently supporting Heather Small on the Voice of the M People Tour.
