Recently signed to This Feeling Records, Fitzroy Holt’s current single ‘Medicine’ has seen the rising newcomer earn comparisons to the likes of Michael Kiwanuka and Scott Walker. His rootsy cocktail of confessional soul and bluesy garage-rock has taken him to festivals including the Isle of Wight, Truck and The Great Escape this summer, while also landing airplay from BBC Music Introducing. Now Fitzroy adds to his growing acclaim by sharing the video for ‘Medicine’. The video places Fitzroy in his home-from-home setting of Norton’s Bar in Digbeth, where he claims you can get the best Guinness in Brum. Shot in a shadowy, introspective monochrome, it shows him alone in the venue - simultaneously performer, punter and barman. Its loneliness is an apt metaphor for the song, which sees Fitzroy bravely revisiting his experiences suffering with substance abuse. Yet as the song steps into a brighter future, his desolation is cut with fiery live footage of Fitzroy and his band performing at the Isle of Wight Festival. The video was directed and edited by two of Fitzroy’s most trusted collaborators: George Morris, the percussionist from his live band and his regular studio engineer, and Patsy Wesson, the muse who inspired the song’s redemptive spirit. Fitzroy says, “Trying to match and create visuals which married the emotions and themes of the song without being overt and cheesy was no easy feat. I think we shot at least five times more footage than we actually used in the video. We then decided to splice footage from our Isle of Wight performance into it. If you were there you’ll know it was full of passion and energy that added the raw edge the video needed. The video turned out like the song, I guess, a dark ode to love, but a real labour of love also." The ‘Medicine’ video comes as Fitzroy prepares to play a London headline show at St. Pancras Old Church on October 28th. Remaining tickets are available HERE. Fitzroy Holt performed in various rock bands around the Wolverhampton area, but the idea of working as a solo artist first gained traction during the initial lockdown. Living in a semi-derelict factory in the city, the relative isolation of the time resulted in a far more introspective approach in his writing. He debuted with the self-financed release ‘Kelly’ in 2021, which was inspired by the struggles he saw women face while working with the local homeless charity Haven. This Feeling came onboard as his personal champions, leading to a deal with their label earlier this year. His music also took on a richer production with the warmth of his live performance with the backing of his band and by working with producer Gavin Monaghan (Paolo Nutini, Robert Plant, Editors). He’s inspired by artists whose lyrical edge finds the grace between personal experience and pure poetry, including Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Damon Albarn and Yves Tumor. Yet an ethos of recognising and understanding other people’s struggles is also a core aspect of his songwriting style. Rising star Precious Pepala shares her new single ‘Looking For Trouble,’ another example of Precious’ bold, mature lyricism and powerful voice. At just seventeen, Precious’ lyrics manage to contain universal sentiments that speak to her generation - the latest single, about the fear women feel walking alone a night, is no different: “She’s cold and she’s drunk, A little red riding her luck in the hood, She’s asking for trouble, Oh, that’s what they’ll say if trouble comes heading her way”. Swelling until it reaches a huge hook, destined to be screamed in crowded rooms, ‘Looking For Trouble’ follows Precious’ debut single ‘My Eyes Only,’ a big statement of intent from pop’s brightest new talent. Speaking about the track, Precious explains “‘Looking for Trouble’ is a song about rape culture and victim blaming. It addresses the unfortunately relatable feeling of fear when walking alone at night as a female. The lyrics also address the way that victims of sexual abuse are all too commonly questioned about things such as their clothing, actions or level of intoxication as if to justify predatory behaviour. I feel very passionately about discussing this subject matter through my music and I hope this song acts as a conversation starter, because these issues need to be discussed until we see change.” Precious grew up in Sheffield in the North of England, where she began singing at the church where her father leads a congregation. A native of the streaming generation, she used the internet to discover Destiny’s Child, Brandy and Aaliyah who inspire her laidback 90s aesthetic; and poured over the performance prowess of Beyoncé, Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga - using this rich tapestry of influences to study how to become an artist to be reckoned with. After learning guitar at school and starting a girlband with her schoolmates, Precious started writing songs by herself, about issues faced by her generation - insecurity, social anxiety, navigating love and heartbreak for the first time - the result is a fully-formed, brilliant new voice who has already won over a legion of fans online, eagerly awaiting her next move. Stay tuned for more from Precious this year. “Looking For Trouble” is out everywhere now. The EP contains new edits of the bands recent single 'Closer' from Daniel Avery, ATTLAS and Ki Oni & Luke Elliott. Rolo Tomassi hare never a band to stand still, and can now announced 'Closer (The Edits)' EP, set for release on 5th August. The EP contains newly edited versions of the bands single 'Closer', which is taken from from their critically acclaimed album 'Where Myth Becomes Memory' that was released back in February earlier this year. The band teamed up with Daniel Avery and ATTLAS and Ki Oni & Luke Elliot for the new edits, and release the Daniel Avery edit today, June 9th, on all DSP's. On working this edit and remix project, the band said: "It was great to get the opportunity to have an artist like Daniel Avery produce this edit of the track. We're big fans of his own work so jumped at the chance to have him work on it. Similarly with ATTLAS, who has taken take 'Closer' and opened it up to a whole new audience with his incredible remix. It's just so exciting to hear these other artists take elements from our signwriting and make something entirely new." A little about first collaborator, Daniel Avery: Over the last decade Daniel Avery has cemented a worldwide reputation as one of the most original artists in contemporary electronic music. The release of the seminal debut Drone Logic in 2013 — an album defined by mentor Andrew Weatherall as “gimmick-free machine funk of the highest order” — is a record that still makes its presence felt today. A collaboration with synth master and Nine Inch Nails member Alessandro Cortini spawned the full length Illusion Of Time. The latest albums Together in Static and Love + Light formed sister releases during lockdown and were further proof still of Avery’s range, delicacy and skill as a producer. A self-confessed late-starter to the world of dance floors, instead lured by the guitars of The Stooges and My Bloody Valentine during his teens, over time Avery became fascinated by the expansive possibilities of sound design and refined a beautifully brutal style distinctly his own.

A pulsating, guitar driven anthem and the last track the band recorded for the album, 'Chemicals' is an encompassing pop moment written by Serge Pizzorno and produced by Serge and Fraser T Smith, with mixing from Spike Stent. “It is me telling myself that it is going to be okay” Serge said of the track. “It was me seeing myself in those few weeks when everything kicked off. It's the future me saying to that person: 'This is shit, but don't worry, it will get better.’ So having a song about talking to yourself is universal, I think. We all have to find a way to deal with the complications, the mess and the mortality of life.” Listen to ‘CHEMICALS’ HERE. Of the new album Serge adds: “One thing about this record I feel over the other ones, is it definitely feels like a body of work that belongs together. It was a beautiful moment in mastering hearing it as a piece. I think it really holds up in our seven albums….The Magnificent Seven”. Known for their blistering live shows, Kasabian have announced a run of UK shows this Winter, including a date at London’s Alexandra Palace on 29th October. ‘The One’ is out everywhere now. WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM | TWITTER | YOUTUBE Singer-songwriter Mabel has announced plans for second album ‘About Last Night…’, which will be released on Polydor Records on July 15th. The immersive project was teased last week with new track ‘Overthinking’ (ft. 24kGoldn), and features euphoric first single ‘Let Them Know’, ‘Good Luck’ & more to come. ‘About Last Night….’ follows the Brit Award winner’s debut album ‘High Expectations’, which saw Mabel’s catalogue surpass 4.5 billion streams, 8 million singles sold (and twelve top 20s) plus 2.5 million adjusted album sales. With festivals this summer including Radio 1’s Big Weekend also kicking off, Mabel has announced plans for a special headline show at London’s Somerse House on July 17th to celebrate the launch of ‘About Last Night…’. Tickets are available now when pre-ordering the album, before pre-sale opens on May 31st and general sale begins on June 1st. Conceived by Mabel as the world went into lockdown – and completed as life IRL picks up pace – ‘About Last Night...’ is a vivid and hyperreal journey from the anticipated beginnings to the messy end of the best night out that never was. Each track transports the minutiae– getting ready to go out; feeling invincible; clocking an ex; crying in the bathroom; stumbling home – and transforms the normality into the magical. Throughout, Mabel once again switches up her effortless way with modern pop: influences span the liberated euphoria of noughties club-culture (dance-pop, house, transatlantic R&B) with deeper themes of expression and inclusion as gained from obsessively re-watching ‘Paris Is Burning’, ‘Pose’ and ‘Drag Race’ during lockdown. It’s this emotional space that (in Mabel’s own words) “brought her back to life” – here is a young woman processing her own, life-changing formative years growing up in the public eye, and taking charge of her narrative through this fantastical space. The feel-good blueprint of ‘About Last Night’ was conceived between Mabel’s West London home, Angelic studios in Oxford, and some of Los Angels’ most inspiring creative spaces (including the former hilltop residence of Frank Sinatra). Early on in the process, Mabel began to assemble a collective of creatively aligned collaborators including friends and frequent song writing partners Raye, MNEK, Kamille and Jax Jones. Impressed by his work with childhood hero Robyn on ‘Impact’, Mabel also teamed up with new faces like SG Lewis, before completing the project between lockdowns in the US with collaborators from pop’s top table: Stargate (Rihanna, Katy Perry), Tommy Brown (Ariana Grande, Victoria Monet), Jozzy (Beyoncé, Lil Nas X) and Aldae (Justin Bieber). Mabel first teased what she had been working on with first single ‘Let Them Know – an unapologetic anthem about dressing up with nowhere to go, and projecting confidence for anyone who needs it. ‘Good Luck’ distilled influences of heartbreak and female solidarity into perfectly realised pop, before the darker side of ‘About Last Night…’ was previewed on ‘Overthinking’: an escapist but unflinchingly honest snapshot of when nightlife meets social anxiety, and how to find your way back to yourself. The Mabel of 2022 is a young woman living in full and self-actualised power, intent on making music that will empower anyone who needs it. ‘About Last Night...’ focuses on the tiny, fleeting choices that constitute a big night out - but also those decisions that can be truly life-changing. Here is a record essentially about learning to live for the moment, and the hard-won wisdom that whatever there is to say ‘About Last Night…’ can wait until tomorrow, when the sun will come up again.
