Ellie Goulding has announced her annual charity concert to raise money for London homeless charity “Streets of London”. This year Goulding, who is an ambassador for the charity, will be joined by the likes of Dua Lipa, Bastille, Sigrid, Mabel, Grace Carter, Jax Jones, Dermot Kennedy and many more on stage at Wembley SSE Arena on 20th December. Pre-order tickets here: https://ellie.lnk.to/SOL Since 2014, Global UN Ambassador Ellie Goulding's annual Christmas gig for Streets of London has raised more than £300,000, which has helped the charity to fund dozens of projects that are helping homeless people turn their lives around. Speaking about the concert and her work with Streets of London, Ellie Goulding explains:- “Every year the event we’ve done for Streets of London has been absolutely magical and moving, I know this year will be the greatest yet.” Homelessness is a major problem in London today. On any given night in London, there are likely to be more than 1,000 people sleeping out on the streets (nearly treble the number there were in 2010) many more are in hostels or temporary accommodation and don't have a home to call their own. This can be incredibly damaging, and the average life expectancy of a homeless rough sleeper is just 47 years old. Streets of London are currently funding twelve projects providing specialist support to get people off the streets and make a fresh start. Projects include a winter night shelter for vulnerable rough sleepers, a rehab hostel for people recovering from addictions, also several employment support projects, which help homeless people to look for jobs and then find and keep work. People end up homeless for many different reasons and many need specialist help to get back on their feet and find a secure home. Those who have been homeless can require a lot of different types of support beyond help with securing housing, such as with mental health and addiction issues, understanding their rights, and with building their employability, skills and self-confidence. With the right support, people who are homeless can turn their lives around. There are lots of great charities throughout London that work hard to provide these services; many of them are small and not very well-known and funding can be hard to secure. The UK is one of the wealthiest countries in the world and London one of the wealthiest cities - no one should be spending night after night sleeping on the street. By working together we can make a real difference and help support those who are struggling to get off the streets for good. The involvement of Ellie, and the many stars who have generously supported Streets of London by giving their time and talents, also helps raise awareness about homelessness, particularly among young people, engaging them in the issue and the need to work for change. Legendary tattoo artist and entrepreneur Kat Von D will also take part in the unmissable show. IAMX, born Chris Corner, is best known for his critically acclaimed dark wave performances which explore the complexities of mutation through sound, visual art and make-up. As the founder of the 90s trip-hop band, Sneaker Pimps, IAMX is no stranger to the spotlight, all of his shows promise theatrical production at arena style quality. Fans can expect a cinematic celebration capturing the giddy phase of metamorphosis Corner currently finds himself in as he takes to the Electric Ballroom stage. Appearing on four Alive in New Light tracks and along for the transformative ride, is postmodern tattooist and makeup powerhouse, kindred spirit, and super fan, Kat Von D. Kat will join IAMX on stage to perform live music for the first time in her illustrious career. Corner’s soaring, plaintive lyrics, alongside Von D’s sultry tones will make this the hottest ticket in town. Reflecting on her relationship with Corner, Kat says: “We could easily swap closets and make-up drawers and no one would be able to tell the difference. We both create, not because we want to, but because we HAVE to.” IAMX can’t wait to get back on stage in the capital ensuring to audiences that “Alive in New Lights is about connecting”.
