Rising Oslo quartet VEPS return with new single 'Mooney Tunes' & announce debut album 'Oslo Park'18/9/2022 Ever since arriving on the Norwegian indie scene aged just 17, Oslo-based four-piece Veps have been releasing a steady stream of jaw dropping mature indie pop gems. Now, as they all hit their final teenage years, the band today announce their debut album Oslo Park - out November 18th on Kanine Records - with newest single ‘Mooney Tunes’ streaming now. The track comes complete with a music video that was filmed in (you guessed it) an Oslo park, cut with archive footage from the past year on the road throughout Europe and Norway - watch here. Produced by fellow Norwegian Matias Tellez (Girl In Red, Sondre Lerche + +), ‘Mooney Tunes’ is Veps at their most dynamic. Continuing to dish out indie pop bangers with a carefree, DIY attitude, the new track is an upbeat track ray of sunshine. Listen HERE. The band say; “It’s about being far away from someone you love. About how great it is to be with them and how fast time passes by with them. Sometimes, in relationships, it feels like you’re on different planets, but you get to meet on the moon!” 2022 has so far seen highlights including the band’s first ever headline UK tour, which included a BBC6 Artist of the Week Spotlight, as well as playing a host of festivals both abroad and in their native Norway. The girls have known each other since junior school but began playing music together at age 14. A series of DIY shows followed, and at a very young age, Veps (the Norwegian word for wasp) was formed. The band self-released two singles in 2019, and by 2020, they hooked up with Brooklyn indie label Kanine Records, releasing their debut EP, Open the Door in 2021. And with song writing skills beyond their years, Veps seamlessly blend a 90s indie aesthetic with classic pop hooks, into their own, fully formed sound. It’s not hard to see why Veps has become a buzz band both within and outside the borders of their native Norway. VEPS are

Groundbreaking Norwegian pop star Sigrid releases the highly-anticipated new single Sucker Punch, following her critically acclaimed RAW EP and incredible festival performances at Reading & Leeds and Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend. Highlighting the breadth of Sigrid’s maturing talent and aptitude for song writing, Sucker Punch cements the 22-year-old’s rise to pop prominence. Sigrid also drops an augmented reality lyric video using new technology, which has a ‘smartphone’ aesthetic mirroring the masses of social content that populates our life every day, with the augmented reality twist. “Sucker Punch is one of my favourite songs so far and I’ve been so excited for release day! Emily Warren, Martin Sjølie and I made it when we were in Ocean Sound Recordings in my home town a while ago. The song is just a result of our usual way of working: talking, cooking, strolling, singing, dancing, experimenting...! Ugh it was so fun - just like the track itself.” Says Sigrid LISTEN TO ‘SUCKER PUNCH’ HERE: https://Sigrid.lnk.to/SuckerPunchPR WATCH AUGMENTED REALITY LYRIC VIDEO: https://sigrid.lnk.to/SuckerPunch_LyricPR With the colossal A-List record ‘High Five’, the certified-Gold Strangers, and zeitgeist defining Don’t Kill My Vibe – which catapulted Sigrid into the public consciousness last year – the pop star will play her biggest headline to date on 12 November, as she takes on O2 Brixton Academy. Sigrid will also support George Ezra in March on his arena tour, as well as Maroon 5 in June. From winning the BBC Sound of 2018, to moving Helen Mirren on the Graham Norton Show and storming the stage at her Shepherds Bush Empire headline, Sigrid’s unforgettably impassioned live performances have sparked mass appreciation and defiant, rebellious pop songs. With her Spotify following tripling since the start of the year, and streaming numbers reaching almost 400M globally, Sigrid is undoubtedly set to continue her ascent with non-conformist and progressive attitudes to femininity with ‘Sucker Punch’. "Mjøen melts the glacial pop vibes fellow Nordic names do so well, with sweet and addictive vocals washing against balmy tropicalia to create something that begs for beaches and sun-smooched boulevards" - Line of Best Fit Hanne Mjøen reveals her new video ‘Vanilla’, out now via Norwegian independent label Sailor Music. The video is directed by Mira Wickman. In short time, Oslo’s Hanne Mjøen has established herself as a fast-rising one-to-watch. The hard-working artist and songwriter has released a handful singles, earning her acclaim from local media as well as international press including The FADER (who named her as one of the top Scandinavian artists to watch this year) and Billboard. In the latter part of 2017, Mjøen toured her home country with Astrid S, as well as at festivals such as Slottsfjell, Findings, Vill Vill Vest and Trondheim Calling. “‘Vanilla’ is in many waysa synonym for something ordinary and boring", Hanne explains, "So the song is really about wishing for more of what's good and exciting". Hanne Mjøen makes energetic pop music, boasting bombastic melody lines, emotional and sensitive lyrics and a fresh Scandinavian production sound. During the past year, she also made a name for herself writing songs for R3hab, Matisse & Sadko and Future Duper, with further exciting collaborations coming in 2018. ‘Vanilla’ is co-written and produced by Hanne, with Elsa Søllesvik (Elsa & Emilie), Sebastian "ÅSN" Aasen & Jim Bergsted. http://www.hannemjoen.com https://twitter.com/hannemjoen https://www.facebook.com/hannemjoenmusic/ https://www.instagram.com/hanne.mjoen/ Norwegian pop singer Sigrid has been named 2018’s winner of the coveted BBC Music Sound Of, as chosen by a panel of more than 170 influential music experts including former winners and longlist nominees. The 21 year old, born in Ålesund, Norway, only started making music four years ago when her brother – who’s also a musician – told her he needed a new song for a gig just two weeks later. Since then she has had a rapid rise to acclaim. Her debut single 'Don't Kill My Vibe' premiered on Radio 1 in February 2017 when it was named ‘Hottest Record in the World’ and she performed her single Strangers live on BBC One’s ‘Sounds Like Friday Night’ in December. Her nervy, cutting-edge pop music is infused with natural humour and charisma and looks set to rule the charts in 2018. All of the artists on the 16-strong longlist for Sound Of 2018 were championed by BBC Radio, with plays across Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2 and 6 Music. Sigrid said on winning, “It’s a lot to take in to have won something as prestigious as BBC Music Sound Of. I feel honoured as there are so many other artists I look up to who have won this before me, and honestly, I’m just really happy and proud of what my team and I have achieved together. I’m from a small town called Ålesund in Norway. I’m still 21 and it’s quite crazy to get this recognition. I’m very excited about the year ahead and sharing new music with everyone. I want to thank the panel for voting and the team involved in BBC Music Sound Of 2018.” The BBC Sound Of 2018 longlist boasted one of the youngest ever line-ups when the top 16 was published last year. The top five, a mix of international, British, unsigned and signed acts was revealed each morning by Annie Mac on Clara Amfo’s Radio 1 show. Two of the top acts came from Manchester with urban jazz artist IAMDDB and indie quartet Pale Waves coming third and fifth respectively. American R&B star Khalid came fourth, whilst singer-songwriter Rex Orange County was 2018’s runner up. Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac said:- “Sigrid is one of those really special artists making quality, exciting and feisty - yet fragile - pop songs that are an absolute pleasure to play on the radio. Sigrid is an incredibly talented performer and songwriter and so very deserving of the Sound Of 2018 crown. I’m really looking forward to watching her rise.” Chris Price, Head of Music for BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra, said:- “I’m absolutely thrilled that Sigrid has been crowned BBC Music Sound Of 2018 winner, showing that taste-makers in the UK and internationally share the excitement that has lit up Radio 1 since ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ was made ‘Hottest Record in the World’ last February. Following Tunes of the Week from Annie Mac, MistaJam, Scott Mills and Greg James – not to mention a Piano Session for Huw Stephens last summer – Sigrid’s new single ‘Strangers’ sits on the Radio 1 ‘A’ list, her third playlist here. Sigrid is a captivating performer and I can’t wait to introduce BBC audiences to her incredible live show, starting today in the home of live music - the Radio 1 Live Lounge” James Stirling, Head of Content Commissioning, BBC Music said:- “Many congratulations to Sigrid and to all the artists on the BBC Music Sound Of 2018 list this year. The range of artists clearly demonstrates both the quality and breadth of music currently coming through. Half the artists on the long list of 16 have been supported by BBC Music Introducing - and helping these artists reach a wider audience is a key part of BBC Music’s mission” The list, compiled annually by BBC News, started in 2003 and crowned 50 Cent as its inaugural winner. Last year, R&B singer Ray BLK became the first unsigned artist to top the list. Previous winners have included synth-pop trio Years & Years, global superstars Adele and Sam Smith, LA pop band HAIM and Ellie Goulding. Profiles of all 16 artists are available on the Sound Of 2018 website. The full top five: 1. Sigrid 2. Rex Orange County 3. IAMDDB 4. Khalid 5.
