21-year-old alt-pop singer songwriter Poutyface returns with her new single “Peter Pan” out now via Island Records. The track is a hyper-pop punk waltz, lyrically calling out sub-par suitors that refuse to grow up. Of the track, Poutyface says: “My friends and I wrote this song as a reality check for myself and all the other young women who have once been hopelessly infatuated with men who masquerade as our alternative wet dream. We got to talking about how red flags are often dressed up as green lights. This song is packed full of irony and clichés. It’s a social commentary on THE Prototype. We all know him, and being a little older and wiser now, I can confidently say: the boy who never grew up is not the man you want.” “Peter Pan” follows “Rag Doll” ft. K.Flay and comes on the heels of a memorable year, having just wrapped up her opening slot on the Yungblud’s Life On Mars tour, and releasing “Cherry Picking.” She is also gearing up to join Gayle on her US tour with more new music coming soon. Poutyface is a 21-year-old singer - songwriter from San Diego, CA. She is an incredible and unique artist who’s definitely in a space of her own. Her releases “Never Fuckin Know,” “FBoys Anonymous,” “Cherry Picking,” and “Rag Doll” are catchy, nostalgic tracks reminiscent of late 90s / early 2000’s rock music. Her presence on the song writing app VOISEY sparked a loyal fanbase that eventually led to the self-released song “Deathwish” which garnered critical acclaim and millions of streams in 2020. She’s written over 150 songs and draws influences from animals such as The Honey Badger and Tasmanian Devil. Poutyface has been making waves, having just wrapped up her opening slot on Yungblud’s Life On Mars tour, and festival shows throughout Europe where she was able to create a fierce and dedicated fan-base on TikTok (120K followers) and Instagram. Iconic singer, songwriter, guitarist, and Alice In Chains co-founder Jerry Cantrell unveils ‘Siren Song’, the third and final song before next week’s release of his new album Brighten. The album will be released on October 29th, 2021 and is available for pre-order and pre-save HERE. ‘Siren Song’ begins with a soft, finger-picked acoustic guitar, as a lead into the heavy distorted sound that follows. Jerry’s soaring vocals take listeners on an epic journey - "She don’t lie she walks on. A passer-by in a dream. You feel as though it’ll never die. In my dark you are the light. Funny how the feeling never goes. When I’m wrong you are the right. Carry the memory in my soul.” ‘Siren Song’ is performed by Jerry [guitar, vocals, bass] along with, Gil Sharone [drums, percussion], Greg Puciato [backing vocals], Michael Rozon [pedal steel], Jordan Lewis [piano], and Joe Barresi [triangle]. Over the past year, Jerry co-produced Brighten with film composer Tyler Bates [300, John Wick], and Paul Fig (long-time Engineer). Reflecting a classic spirit, they welcomed a dynamic cast of supporting players including Duff McKagan [Guns N’ Roses, Loaded] on select bass tracks, Greg Puciato [Dillinger Escape Plan] contributing to backing vocals and drummers Gil Sharone and Abe Laboriel, Jr. (Paul McCartney). JERRY CANTRELL SOCIALS Today, Willow has released a performance video of her track, 'Lipstick', from her recently released new album, "Lately I Feel EVERYTHING" (MSFTSMusic / Roc Nation). It follows the official music video for her explosive single 't r a n s p a r e n t s o u l (ft. Travis Barker)', which was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award last week in the 'Best Alternative' category. Willow has also announced U.S. tour dates supporting Billie Eilish. Willow will join the tour on February 3rd in New Orleans, Louisiana. Highlights include two nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City on February 18th and 19th and The Forum in Los Angeles on April 8th. Willow will also play Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas on Friday, September 17th. More Willow tour dates will be announced soon. "Lately I Feel EVERYTHING" features Travis Barker, Avril Lavigne, Tierra Wack, Cherry Glazer and Ayla Tesler-Mabe. “'Lately I Feel EVERYTHING' is a musical expression of trying to perceive both joy and pain through an equally compassionate and playful lens,” says Willow. Of the 11 tracks on the album, Willow had previously released singles, 'Lipstick', pop punk anthem, 'Grow' and the explosive 't r a n s p a r e n t s o u l (ft. Travis Barker)'. In the time since its release, 't r a n s p a r e n t s o u l ( ft. Travis Barker)' has amassed 145 million streams globally and became Willow’s first Hot 100 entry, the song currently #12 on the Alternative Chart. All songs on "Lately I Feel EVERYTHING", were written by Willow with production and co-writing on select tracks from her long-time collaborator Tyler Cole. The album was recorded in Los Angeles at Conway Studios with additional drums by Matt Chamberlain. Willow plays guitar throughout. At only 20 years old, Willow has spent half her life in the music industry. With "Lately I Feel EVERYTHING, a decade of growth both in the industry and as a young woman come to a head. Her album is a love letter to that constant evolution. She began working on the record in 2020, during the pandemic. With all the extra time on her hands at home, she began recording demos that she would later re-record when she felt like she could safely enter a studio. It was a new process for her, born out of caution, but it helped her capture the rawness of her new sound. On the record, Willow channels the pop-punk and emo heroes she adored as a teenager, like Avril Lavigne, My Chemical Romance and Paramore. “I thought this was a really dope outlet for a new energy I wanted to bring to my music,” she says. 't r a n s p a r e n t s o u l (ft. Travis Barker)' was originally unveiled via Beats1’s Zane Lowe as a New Music Daily and has since garnered both critical praise and commercial success. “Smith’s song doesn’t so much make the case for Black women in pop-punk as much as it serves as a reminder that we’ve always been here,” said Jezebel. “It’s a pop-punk banger for the ages.” WILLOW recently performed the single on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Watch here. WEBSITE // FACEBOOK // INSTAGRAM / APPLE / AMAZON / DEEZER / SPOTIFY // TWITTER Alyusha (pronounced ‘Ali-usher’) is the progressive vocalist, writer and producer who today shares the first song “Cracks” from her upcoming “Little God” EP. Born to Japanese & Romanian / Irish parents, Alyusha has a rich musical heritage, which as a producer she combines with her influence of industrial, city sonic landscapes. This combination of influences creates a futuristic and sometimes jarring sound, juxtaposing light and dark with provoking songwriting. Since her second single "Paradise" with Linden Jay charted at Number 2 on Spotify’s ‘Global Viral Charts’, she’s toured Europe alongside working on new material in the studio, collaborating with other artists and spent some time in Tokyo where she immersed herself and collected sounds from the city. One of the artists that the progressive, classically trained musician collaborated with is Warp’s “ghetto futuristic artist” Gaika where she features on and co-produced “The Deal”. “Cracks” has a smooth yet experimental interplay between formation and demolition delivered by her soothing vocals, effortlessly malleable in character with a sound that while soul-infused orbits around the fascinatingly cold decaying tones of jarred Hip Hop and a unique R&B hybrid. Alyusha doubles down the attack with lyrics that tackle emotion and personal subjects with a lawless attitude. Discussing Japanese philosophical ideologies such as ‘wabi sabi (embracing the imperfect) and ‘kintsugi’ (the ancient art form of mending cracks with gold paint in pottery). This symbolises the belief that only something that has been broken has the potential to transform in to becoming something more beautiful. While lyrically her vocals are lucid and inviting; the grimy production on her first cut of 2018 transfers its tough and unforgiving strength to the listener. Check out “Cracks” (Listen here) and stay tuned for more from “Little God” EP https://www.facebook.com/alyusha.official/ The London-based three-piece Benin City, comprised of vocalists Joshua Idehen and Shanaz Dorsett with multi-instrumentalist Tom Leaper, today share a video for their current single, "Final Form". The track is taken from their upcoming album, Last Night, which will be an ode to London's nightlife, set for release via Moshi Moshi Records on June 15th 2018. Joshua said the following about the video: "Our last video for "All Smoke, No Fire" was in memory of all the clubs that have shut in the last five years, so we wanted our next video to celebrate the mainstream and alternative scenes still thriving in London. Working with George Bushaway, we crafted a narrative of two clubbers working up the courage to lose themselves in three very different dance-floors: Lindy hopping with Swing Patrol in Holborn, Jungle/Garage raving in Fire down Vauxhall, and a soca night at Ruby Blue, Leicester Square". About the track itself he continued: "I once went to Zoo Bar in the west end with a poet I really fancied. It was a Saturday night and neither of us drank but we felt like dancing. They were playing soulful house (this was way back in the noughties). Spurring and daring each other on, we started with the running man and ended up at last orders, dripping in the worst sweat, making up entirely new dance moves, downing large glasses of tap water. She, a Dragonball Z fan, kept saying, “nah, you haven’t seen my Final Form. Next song I will be over 9000”. Obviously, that stuck with me." Watch / share the video HERE. Following a sold out show at London's The Waiting Room, which was a boundary-pushing performance combining spoken word and music, Benin City are currently at SXSW in Austin, Texas to play 4 shows including one for BBC Radio 1, details of which are below. The band will also perform at The Lock Tavern in London on 31st March. Their live dates are as follows: 14th Mar (9pm): USA, Austin, Texas: SXSW, Esther's Follies 16th Mar (4.30pm): USA, Austin, Texas: SXSW, Flatstock Stage 17th Mar (2pm): USA, Austin, Texas: SXSW, British Music Embassy @ SXSW Presents, Latitude 30 17th Mar (1am): USA, Austin, Texas: SXSW, BBC Radio 1 @ British Music Embassy @ SXSW Presents, Latitude 30 31st March: UK, London: Lock Tavern 8th June: UK, London: Poetry and Lyrics Festival with Cerys Matthews 9th August: UK, Winchester: Boomtown Festival Clubbing is a source of euphoria: a weekly, often daily escape, a respite from the grind. That culture and its landmarks – some of London’s best venues and many countless pubs - are slowly disappearing for good. On the band’s record, due for release in June, Benin City's narrators draw on the last decade of their collective experiences as ravers, bar workers and observers and take an album-long look at the nature of London’s nightlife.Read an interview with the band over at Noisey here.
