Philadelphia's Hop Along return today with 'Prior Things', (listen here - https://youtu.be/6IbBU4QXxD4) the epic closer of their forthcoming new album Bark Your Head Off, Dog, which arrives April 6th on Saddle Creek. This comes after a triumphant SXSW, where the band debuted several new songs to enraptured fans and earned festival highlight accolades from Brooklyn Vegan, Mercury News, Stereogum - who called singer Frances Quinlan “a national treasure“ - and Rolling Stone who raved, “dexterous rhythms as their anchor gives Hop Along a kinetic kick that might not otherwise be heard in their delicate, nimble songs, and while that's enough to separate the band from their peers, the group is also fun to watch because there's a genuine warmth to their banter." Following lead single 'How Simple' and dynamic album cut 'Not Abel,' 'Prior Things' explores the bitter triumph of a relationship that never comes to be. The formidable 9-song collection is the band’s strongest and most cohesive album to date. Crafted by Frances Quinlan (songwriter, lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist), Tyler Long (bass), Joe Reinhart (guitar), and Mark Quinlan (drums), the album considers what it’s like to cast off long-held and misguided perceptions, yet without the assurance of knowing what new ones will replace them. Quinlan has been meditating a lot on power. In this particular moment in history, this thought begs a greater question: what do we do with power and the men who so freely brandish it?
Self-produced and recorded at The Headroom in Philadelphia by Reinhart and Kyle Pulley, Bark Your Head Off, Dog features the familiar sounds that have always made the band allergic to genre: grunge, folk, punk, and power pop all appear, with inspiration from ELO to Elvis Costello to ‘70s girl group vocal arrangements. This time around, they’ve added strings, more intricate rhythms, lush harmonies (featuring Thin Lips’ Chrissy Tashjian), along with a momentary visit with a vocoder. In more than one place, Mark Quinlan drums like he’s at a disco with Built to Spill. Bark Your Head Off, Dog is, without question, Hop Along’s most dynamic and textured record yet. It is not an easy task describing the talents of Paola Pellegrini, an intricate all-around expression of rock. The term that best describes her diverse nature would be "polyhedral": professional criminal lawyer in the city of Florence by day and a devout rock guitarist, singer/songwriter by night. Her passion for hard rock/punk/metal came at an early age. Ever since she was a little girl she has been playing guitar and writing songs. Having been a member of various bands, she started her solo career: Paola Pellegrini Lexrock, coining the terms LEX=LAW and ROCK to describe her commitment to protect the constitutionally guaranteed rights of people and the sense of disruptive force and love for authenticity which is ROCK. After recording her first self-produced album "Agape" (2013), all in italian language, her journey towards artistic and musical success began, leading Paola to the label “Qua’ rock Records” and released the first professional album "Dreams Come True" (2015). Going on with real passion and hard work, Paola started to collaborate with some of the most important rock musicians in Italy to realize her new album, with a greater focus on arrangements and a particular attention to the sound, that is powerful and at the same time melodic, with great guitars and a strong rhythm section. All tracks are in English (excepted one song) and oriented to an international market and to a wider audience, and Paola has also the will to play it live the more that is possible and hopefully not only in Italy. www.lexrock.it https://www.facebook.com/paolapellegrinilexrock https://twitter.com/PaolaLexrock?s=07 https://www.instagram.com/paola_pellegrini_lexrock/ https://www.youtube.com/user/LexrockLexrock www.redcatpromotion.com Brazilian Ska-Punk Band Abraskadabra Debut New Music Video WATCH "THE DREAM" HERE Brazilian ska-punk band Abraskadabra is gearing up to release their new album Welcome next month, but today you can see the music video for their latest single "The Dream." Premiering on New Noise Magazine, the video is a wild ride inside the head of their vocalist Du, depicting a collection of different dreams he has had (which makes you wonder what the hell he's eating before bed). Video director Guilherme Lepca says:- "The process of making the video-clip was inspired by the 80’s punk movement aesthetics (specially Dead Kennedy's gig posters) and also by 30’s horror movies. Our objective recording the clip was to catch the process of making a new album in a rented house and also the vibe of the band. By mixing noisy pictures, non sense collages and parallaxes we wanted to give the clip a dreamy and dynamic narrative/look." The new album Welcome delivers Abraskadabra's own vision of the ska punk essence. Written as a whole band, they searched for a raw punchy sound while exploring the full capacity of melody. Instead of recording in a traditional studio environment, the seven-piece ensemble crammed themselves into an old house and captured everyone’s feelings and motivations in the moment. Arising in mid-2003, the band has toured all around Brazil and the US, sharing the stage with legends like Bad Religion, Rise Against, Goldfinger, Less Than Jake, and many more. In 2014, the band's cover of No Use For Name's "Not Your Savior" was featured in the Fat Wreck Chords doc A Fat Wreck. It isn’t just the 15-years on the road that settle the power and unity of Abraskadabra, but also the energy and passion they put into the music they create. Being friends first and putting together one of the most interesting punk bands in Brazil. Facebook // Instagram // Twitter 'Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols' 40th anniversary deluxe edition out December 1st11/11/2017 It is now almost 40 years to the day since the Sex Pistols ‘Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols’ was released and to mark this significant anniversary USM/UMC are proud to revisit the out-of-print super deluxe edition of the album, which was originally issued in 2012. Released in limited numbers at the time, this set is widely considered to be the definitive collection. This new, budget priced smaller-sized edition still boasts 3CDs which include the original studio album with 1977 B-sides, a disc of out-takes and one disc of 1977 live material. Additionally there is a DVD featuring 1977 footage of the band playing live from the infamous boat party held on the River Thames, London, the Winter Gardens, Penzance in Cornwall and the Happy House, Stockholm, Sweden. Bringing it all together is a 48-page hardback book with narrative from music journalist Pat Gilbert plus rare photos from Bob Gruen, Barry Plummer, John Tiberi and Dave Wainwright. Condensing the very essence of 1977, Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols is the only studio album by the group, released amidst a furore of controversy and outrage, following their being dropped by not one but two record labels, banned from gigging in most parts of the UK and swearing live on TV. From its iconic day-glo cover designed by Jamie Reid in collaboration with the Sex Pistols to its risqué title which led to an infamous court case which the band won, the album encapsulates a moment in time when the Sex Pistols set the world of music on fire.
